Spiderman in Singapore! Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield meet fans at Marina Bay Sands

By: Rachael Wheeler

We don’t get heaps of A-list celebrities here in humble Singapore, so when full-on stars like Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield and Jamie Foxx rocked up at Marina Bay Sands on funny little Spiderman carts, it was always going to be a big deal.

Thousands turned up to scream in their faces in the heart of The Shoppes on Thursday evening, with the cast and directors walking the red carpet and posing happily in front of a bit of branded cardboard.

Staying true to his ‘nice, normal chap’ reputation, 30-year-old Andrew spent time chatting to local fans – many of which were decked out in their own Spiderman gear – while girlfriend Emma cosied up to the crowd for dozens of photos.

The 25-year-old ginger looked stunning as ever, wearing a flattering burgundy crocheted dress with 3/4 length sleeves by Christian Dior, along with matching velvet pumps by Christian Louboutin and jewellery by Cartier. Just in case you were wondering.

Speaking at the event, which involved a Q&A with reporters, Andrew nattered about how brilliant being Spiderman is. But after turning 30 last August, he cracked a joke about getting too stiff to continue the role forever. He said: ‘I’m getting a bit old, we need to churn these movies out a little quicker. I don’t want to be a 58 year old Spiderman!’

Good one, Andy. Meanwhile, Emma was asked this tricky question by a wise guy in the crowd: ‘In bio-chemistry, what is an activated complex?’. She replied with a twinkle in her eye: ‘Yup. Sure, sure, sure, sure, yup. I know the answer in my mind. Do you know the answer though? I’m not going to do your homework for you – look it up!’

Get flicking through the gallery above to enjoy all the snaps from the exciting afternoon. And if you’re gutted to have missed out, do not fret, my pretties – they’ll be doing it all again in Marina Bay on Saturday evening to celebrate Earth Hour.
