Fancy furniture for smaller spaces

17th September 2018 by Amy Brook-Partridge 1 Min Read

Not all of us can fit an eight-seater dining table into our homes, or an L-Shaped sofa big enough for a family of four, plus friends – and pets! That’s why this new collection from WTP, The Furniture Company is worth a view. It takes into account high-end style, but has many pieces that could fit into a smaller apartment, and often with an attractive price tag to boot. We asked director Naazli Somjee to talk us through the ins and outs of the new range.

WTP Furniture
The L-shaped sofa has a very modern feel but is compact enough to fit into a smaller apartment.

Tell us about the new furniture collection.

We’ve focused on smaller proportions while still using elegant fabrics, so even in a smaller apartment you can have that modern Italian-feel L-shaped sofa. The pieces look high end, but they’re affordable, and yet we haven’t compromised on quality. This is all part of a ready-to-go line, like a pret-a-porter line in fashion. There’s no bespoking required.

This elegant bed with brushed gold frame and beige linen headboard is understated, with just a touch of the ‘wow’ factor!

The dining table is made from recycled elm, giving it a lovely light look.

This sofa and chair combination is funky and fun.

A modern spin on a traditional design, this bed is perfect for making the ceiling feel higher, and therefore the space feel bigger.

Explain the thinking behind the furniture designs.

The designers at WTP sit down with various regional designers to discuss shape, size and material, so it’s a collaborative effort. The trends are currently towards velvets and very luxe-looking fabrics in rich jewel tones, hence we have some really funky purple and lime green armchairs.

Do these suit a particular style taste?

I think the range fits a very big demographic in terms of age, property type and gender. Whether you like Pop Art or neutrals, or you’re adventurous or not, it should have something for everyone.

Modern and clean but still comfortable, the textured material looks great day and night.

What’s their price point?

The beds are all under $1,900, and the sofas are all less than $4,000, even for an L-shaped sofa from this range.

Amy has two kids, one dog and one husband - although she'd love to have more than one (dog, that is). She's mad about F45 training, running and playing Gaelic football, when she isn't injured or drinking a little too much wine.
