Singapore Street Style: Meet Mel Rice

Who said Singapore street style lacks originality? We took to the streets, camera in hand, ready to snap women who exude individuality and an awesome sense of personal style! Mel Rice is a swim coach at the Canadian school and we loved her look, so took some snaps outside ION Orchard. Find out what inspires her below.

Her story

I’m from Maine, US, and have lived here for over nine years.

Her style is…

I go for a classic and chic look by wearing basics with complementary accessories.

Where she shops…

Shopping in Singapore can be a bit of an adventure. Sometimes you can find exactly what you’re looking for, and at other times you may find something you never knew you’d love! Right now, my favourite place is on Haji Lane – it has some hidden gems that are definitely worth checking out.

Her wardrobe must-haves…

My favourite pair of jeans, to wear with a white T-shirt and stud earrings.

A fun fact…

I once played the part of the baker’s wife in the musical Into the Woods.

Her guilty pleasures…

Going to the movies and having salty popcorn and M&Ms!

Favourite places for shopping abroad is…

Impossible to choose! They all have been amazing. From the wedges I found on a tiny street in Barcelona, to the bracelet I got with my mum in Bali, each shopping experience has been unique, and I hope for many more to come.
