Whether your mantra for this particular feast of Saint Valentine is “Give big or go home!”, or you’re treating it simply as a chance to spend some free time with your partner, there’s so much choice across the Little Red Dot that you’ll be hard-pressed knowing where to start. To help, we’ve unearthed a few fun spots and ideas of where to go, what to do and what to give!
Some say that Italian food is the food of love and we couldn’t agree more! This Valentine’s Day let the melody of delectable food play on. (Come on, it’s Valentine’s Day – we’re allowed to be cheesy!) If Italian fare is the way to your partner’s heart, then this place is worth a booking.
Chef Gabriele Piegaia at Burlamacco has prepared a delicious Valentine’s Day menu, with highlights including a combination of crab timballo topped with red caviar and foie gras terrine with brioche bread, and a duo of filled tortelli, with sea urchin, and turkey and amaretti biscuits in a port wine reduction.
There’s also a choice between roasted cod fish served with porcini mushrooms in a lobster bisque reduction and chives or 48-hour slow-cooked beef short ribs with pumpkin and potato ‘millefoglie’ in black truffle sauce. Finish with pannacotta tart with fresh wild berry and mint in saffron and vanilla sauce. Now that really does all sound divine!

For free bubbly and a good-value set menu, Pepenero’s cozy, intimate setting might be the answer.
The four-course menu includes a complimentary glass of romantic bubbles to accompany delicious dishes such as hand-picked sea scallop carpaccio with asparagus and watercress sauce and pink home-made ricotta cheese ravioli with sautéed porcini and saffron sauce.
We know it’s sometimes awkward stuffing your face in front of your partner, especially if it’s a new relationship, but the Angus beef tenderloin with pink peppercorn sauce topped with truffle-scented foie gras or the Atlantic cod fillet with Mediterranean sauce and lobster tail thermidor sound like they’re definitely worth getting your chops round.
And to finish off with something sweet, who won’t love the chocolate lava cake with cherry cream with vanilla bean sauce. And it’s from just $98 per person. Surely your date’s worth it?
