Shopping for a new pair of sunglasses? Stylist Julia Blank of Dial for Style shares her tips on choosing frames to flatter the shape of your face.
Go for sunglasses with smaller frames. Round frames can soften angular features, and embellished sidepieces give the illusion of width at your temples.
You are lucky! Almost all frames will suit your face. However, make sure the frames are as wide as or even wider than the broadest part of your face.
Wide oval, cat-eye and angular frames can help diminish fullness and elongate the face.
Women with a strong jawline and sharp cheekbones can minimise the angles with soft, curvy styles. The classic oval also works well for this facial shape.
There is more to selecting perfect sunglasses than just facial shape, particularly if yours does not fit into a particular category. Keep in mind other features like nose size, eye spacing and skin tone.
- For a narrow or high nose, glasses with a low, prominent bridge can break up the length of the nose.
- To divert attention from your nose, wear ornamentation on the arms to give the illusion of a wider face.
- If you have a small nose, choose glasses with a higher bridge in order to expose most of your nose and make it look longer.
- Delicate metal frames are more flattering than heavier ones for smaller noses.
