Located on the outskirts of the financial district, Humpback restaurant is an oyster-lover’s dream. Its menu offers an assortment of platters with a choice of three types of oysters. The large, juicy and flavoursome Shigoku fat bastard oyster dish is a showstopper. Oysters are priced at $6, but during happy hour they come in at just $2 apiece.
From the “garden” selection, the cabbage with herb cheese, crispy quinoa and chilli oil ($10) is a must to try, as is the mouth-watering hamachi ceviche, avocado, yuzu, radish, almond and Pacific yellowtail fish ($22).
Finish off with Valrhona chocolate mousse, which comes with berries and fresh cream; its creamy texture and a pinch of rock salt give it a lovely sweet and savoury taste, and it’s a bargain at $10.
The presentation of each dish scores ten out of ten, and the décor is modern and funky. There are plenty of cocktails on the menu, and wines start at $80 a bottle.
