Are you excited for the 2018 HSBC Singapore Rugby 7s this April? We sure are! It’ll be held over the weekend of 28 and 29 April, and besides watching the action on the field, you won’t want to miss Music After 7s, the after-party at Clarke Quay. Here’s what to expect!
Where and when?
Head to the Clarke Quay Fountain Square and party hard at this three-night music festival from 27 to 29 April (7.30pm to 11.30pm). After the games each evening, hop on the free shuttle buses (28 and 29 April, from 7pm) and they’ll ferry you from the National Stadium to Clarke Quay – a super-convenient start to a great night.
Live bands take the stage
After taking in the massive rugby action on field, head to the fountain square at Clarke Quay (7.30pm to 11.30pm) where you can look forward to an equally exciting line-up of regional and local bands. Various F&B outlets including Paulaner, Highlander and McGettigan’s will also be setting up booths serving up delicious food and drinks to keep you energised throughout the night.
Popular Celtic band Gan Ainm kicks off the festivities. Performing across Southeast Asia, the band boasts an impressive repertoire, from Irish traditional, folk and rock to contemporary pop covers.
The next evening, Stereofly and Sepia will be lighting up the stage. Stereofly is Highlander’s resident band, and they’ve been entertaining audiences across the region, including Japan and Indonesia, with their combo of catchy classics, R&B, pop and dance. Sepia, meanwhile, hail from Bicol in the Philippines, where they formed back in 2006. Initially playing alt-rock tunes, the Filipino group has evolved to incorporate more diverse styles, exploring pop, progressive rock and even hip hop.
Ending the festival with a bang is Rockweller. The band consists of Ukrainian vocalist Olga Osmanova, guitarists Joel Lim and Jerald Lee, drummer Syafiq Bustaman and bassist Joseph Goh from Singapore. If you love rock and heavy metal, this is one act you won’t want to miss.
