Come here if you want to whisper “I love you”, instead of screaming it from the rooftops.
From the simple décor to the polite and knowledgeable servers, it exudes a quiet elegance throughout, and the food is exquisite. Italian Chef Roberto is meticulous with his presentation, and for Valentine’s Day he has come up with some marvellous creations.
We were a little early to sample the entire Valentine’s Day menu, but thoroughly enjoyed the dishes that were substituted. From the fresh seafood salad with leeks and black-olive dressing, to the rich crab meat ravioli in lobster sauce with potato cream and avocado, and the light pan-fried seabass with fennel, orange and grey mullet roe sauce, it was all superb. The highlight however, was the asparagus fagottini (filo pastry parcel) with light cheese fondue sauce, which elicited groans of delight.
I was initially surprised by the dessert, an aromatic herb jelly with passion fruit mousse and mandarin basil soup. Basil soup for dessert! What were they thinking? Rest assured, ye of little faith – it is delicious.
The five-course Valentine’s Day dinner is $98++ per person.
