Restaurant review: Paulaner Brauhaus

Paulaner Brauhaus

The great thing about this place is that you can roll out of bed on a Sunday morning, throw on some shorts, and rock up for some fantastic comfort food that does a marvellous job of soaking up any remnants of alcohol from the previous night.

It has a reasonably sized buffet of quality dishes including some classic Bavarian fare – pork knuckle and sauerkraut, sausages, pickles, salads, soups, pretzels, and a good selection of desserts including Mövenpick ice-cream, strudel and Black Forest gateau.

If you need a little hair of the dog, there is a choice of home-brewed dark beer or lager, glasses of which are lined upon the bar, ready to be served.

While the atmosphere appeared a little subdued during our visit – in part due to the curious selection of wrist-slitting tunes being played – we could imagine spending a lazy afternoon here with friends, scoffing schnitzel and smashing our glasses together with loud, merry cries of “Prost!”
