If you want entertainment for your children while you brunch, try this pretty establishment next to the Turf Club. It is so green and rural-feeling that – apart from the hot weather – you could almost be in the English countryside.
Pleasant and efficient staff, wearing rather funky headsets, offered tips on which dishes to choose. When we asked to move (as there was a rather excitable group of little girls next to us), they happily placed us at a great table outside where we could enjoy the lush greenery.
The menu is extensive and includes everything from crabmeat and mango salad to doughnuts. There is a kids’ menu, too. Although I was tempted by the brunch menu – it’s not a buffet as such; you order from the menu and they bring it to you – we decided to order a la carte.
While our juices were lovely, the muffin under my eggs Benedict ($18++) was unfortunately soggy, and the flavour of the dish overwhelmed by the dressing on the salad garnish it came with. My husband’s scrambled eggs with salmon and mushrooms ($16++) more resembled an omelette.
Mimolette could be a great place to relax with the family on a Sunday. There were plenty of children there, enjoying various distractions laid on for their – and their parents’ – benefit, such as face painting and balloon making.
