Word must be spreading, because this Italian café-style eatery was full on a weekday night, despite the fierce competition that surrounds it on all sides.
Starters range from $16 to $18 and mains from $24 to $30. If you like, you can order an antipasti platter. We tried beef carpaccio with shaved Parmesan; prosciutto with melon; caprese salad; and crunchy calamari, which were all excellent.
We heartily recommend the tiny gnocchi in a creamy porcini mushroom sauce and the tasty beef ravioli, but first prize went to the sublime risotto with green asparagus and foie gras. The signature pizza ($19) has four different toppings on a perfectly thin and light base. The ossobucco, veal shank braised with red wine and vegetables, was comfort food at its best; the cod was excellent, too.
If you have room for dessert (all $12), try the delectably light panna cotta with espresso sauce, the tiramisu or the yummy lemon tart. Whatever you choose, you probably won’t go wrong.
Chef Roberto speaks little English, but the authenticity of his creations spoke volumes, and friendly restaurant manager Jack did a great job. The wine list is varied and starts at $60 a bottle.
Tip: For an intimate ambience, choose an outdoor table; the indoor lighting is a bit too bright.
