When it comes to matters of the tummy, I’m bad at making decisions, so brunch at Krish strikes a chord. The new menu extends their signature contemporary South Asian cuisine to include familiar Western breakfast items, which means I no longer have to choose between the two. I even get to decide between the garden verandah and the Indian-chic indoor area.
There are morning staples like buttermilk pancakes and omelettes, but don’t overlook the breakfast chapatti wrap, a circle of homemade Indian bread that hugs a fry-up of eggs, caramelised onion and bacon. The patty on the Krish burger is wonderfully chunky, and it comes with a side of Parmesan fries. My favourite, though, is the Krish take on eggs Benedict, with two perfectly poached eggs enveloped in a smooth Hollandaise sauce and – wait for it – curried duck breast on a buttery crumpet.
Kids also get their own mini-menu, so the adults don’t need to share the best bits of their own meals. Nothing says happy child like one tucking into a serving of “mac and cheese”.
The brunch is available only on Saturdays, and it’s become my new method of welcoming in the weekend.
