Singapore has a great public transport system. But for days when you need a car for a quick errand or to ferry kids around, it’s worth sharing or renting a car in Singapore. Or if you want to explore different historical sites for the day. Here, we find out what’s on offer, from car-sharing apps to monthly and hourly rental options.
Car Club – Singapore’s first car-sharing provider
Car Club has been around since 1997, when it began as NTUC Income’s car-sharing co-operative in Singapore. Today, it has car-sharing plans to suit modern lifestyles. There’s a wide selection of cars, including newer models and vehicles that are brand new. And, yes, there are electric vehicles and everyday pet-friendly utility vehicles too!
How does it work? Cars can be rented for as little as an hour, and you just pay for the usage period. There are four plans – Basic, Value, Lady, Corporate – for different needs and uses. The app has recently introduced an e-wallet – top up the e-wallet to rent a car and start driving; no more deposits required! From reserving a car to unlocking and locking a car and payment, everything is done on the Car Club app. At the end of your lease period, you’ll receive an e-invoice that lists mileage fees and vehicle time charges. The charges are then deducted from your E-wallet.
All the vehicles are made available with petrol and are covered with comprehensive insurance. Each car also contains hand sanitisers, disinfectants and anti-bacterial air fresheners for added health safety. Members of Car Club also earn rewards as they drive! Through their A.I.-powered car-sharing app, your driving is evaluated and a safety score is given after each session. You can use your safe driving scores to claim lifestyle rewards or driving credits.
Deal! Use code “EXPAT20” for a $20 driving credit that’s valid for a month.
