What you need to know about Profhilo

An all-rounded treatment that tightens, lifts and hydrates the complexion, while smoothing out lines and wrinkles? Sign us up! Profhilo is an anti-ageing skin injectable that’s been making waves since it was launched in Singapore. The founder of Mendis Aesthetics, DR ROHAN MENDIS, has 20 years of experience in the field of medical aesthetics – he talks us through the nitty-gritty!

Profhilo - hydration

What is Profhilo?

It’s an anti-ageing skin-injectable treatment that delivers hyaluronic acid to all layers of the skin to provide excellent hydration. Due to its smooth consistency, it spreads out evenly within the skin layer without causing any lumps.

The product is made of 100 percent pure hyaluronic acid (HA) of low and high molecular weight. The low-molecular-weight HA works to regenerate HA production and provide deep hydration to improve moisture levels within the skin; and the high-molecular-weight HA tightens the skin. Volume loss is restored and saggy skin is lifted, without altering the appearance of facial features. Also, thanks to this unique hybrid complex, Profhilo is very durable; in fact, it’s eight times less likely to degrade than HA on its own!

Profhilo kickstarts the bio-stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin. This helps to improve skin elasticity and quality over three to six months after the treatment.

How is it special?

Firstly, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in Profhilo is about five times more than the average skin booster, making it an injectable with the highest concentration of HA in the world.

The chemical structure is also distinct from other injectables; as such, Profhilo is able to “bioremodel” the skin tissue, improving hydration and firmness through collagen production. This also allows HAs of high and low molecular weight to link together, which in turn allows them to release slowly and dissipate evenly under the skin.

Profhilo

Who is it for?

Profhilo is suitable for anyone looking to improve their skin. As it promotes tissue repair and collagen production, it’s ideal for those with acne scarring. It works especially well for anyone with ageing skin, too, as it hydrates, tightens and improves skin quality. The treatment is also suitable for men, who typically have thicker skin, as it doesn’t have the effect of softening their masculine features.

When can I expect results?

While the effects can show up as early as one week after the treatment, full results of the firming, tightening and lifting action can be observed after one month. Two sessions are generally suggested, spaced one month apart; an additional third treatment may be needed two months later, depending on your particular skin laxity. We also recommend a repeat of the procedure every six months for maintenance.

Is there any downtime?

Due to its composition of 100 percent pure hyaluronic acid, the treatment has few visible side effects. Some redness and discomfort may be present immediately afterwards, but this will diminish within a few hours. In fact, a key difference to choosing Profhilo over other treatments is that it requires little to no downtime.
