3 great pet shops your fur baby will love

17th December 2017 by Michaela Bisset 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/pet-shops-singapore/

We all want the best for our fur kids, don’t we? From boarding to food, we chat with three families about their go-to pet shops for all their pet needs.

Pet shops

The Grateful Dog

Ine Storemark and David Ng, Norwegian and Singaporean, Ellie (3 months)

“A number of our friends order their dog food from The Grateful Dog, and they recommended us to try it for Gorgo, our nine-year-old Bull Terrier. We wanted some variety so we chose the 12-week full mix meal plan that offers different combinations including chicken and millet, pork and oats, and beef and sweet potato. We felt that this would allow us to find out which meal Gorgo prefers, though so far she’s been eagerly gobbling everything up!

We have a senior dog so we want to do all we can to keep her as fit and healthy as possible. The Grateful Dog provides us with fresh, nutritious and delicious dog food without any artificial preservatives or chemicals. It’s also hypoallergenic and veterinarian-approved, and this will hopefully result in fewer trips to the vet (fingers crossed). The meals are packed specifically to Gorgo’s size, coming frozen and vacuum-sealed. All you have to do is defrost and serve. She absolutely loves the food and we have seen a clear improvement in her energy-levels (former couch potato!), skin and fur.

It’s been very reassuring to know exactly what goes into the food we serve our beloved fur baby. It’s convenient to receive a fresh supply of meals at our doorstep every two weeks, and delivery is free of charge. I also love the fact that 10 percent of profits go to helping local animal shelters!”

Doggies Galore

Sally Blair and Gavin Ingram, Australian, Harry (7), Sam (5) and Grace (3)

“Our dog Tupper is a black Singapore Special who is about 18 months old. Christine from Doggies Galore had previously helped us with dog walking before the centre opened in August. She was recommended by Steph from Happy Tails. We send Tupper to daycare once a fortnight when the gardening team is at the house. We also send her there if we have maintenance work being done or when I need to work long hours.

At Doggies Galore, the dogs are free to roam. They are entertained by toys and activity stations and have little beds to sleep in. The team is excellent – they cut nails, give tablets and love the dogs. My kids have visited the centre with me and they enjoy seeing all the dogs. We love the photos and videos they send of Tupper. They also have good transportation recommendations such as the PetMate Taxi service that offers a good discount. The centre has really helped us during busy times!

Tupper still has some crazy puppy moments so it’s been nice to share them with others. It has also been helpful for her to get used to the place before we use the overnight service when we travel. She has fun with all the other dogs, especially Bubba. The team is wonderful, the facilities are excellent and Tupper loves going there!”

Goood Pet Collars

Anja Burisch and Nicholas Hutchins, German and British

“Our cat Milo is a Singapore rescue and she is four years old. We came across GOOOD Pet Collars at a Cat Welfare Society charity event about 18 months ago, as well as at various similar events. The first item we bought from them was a little colourful bowtie. We’ve also bought a cat scarf and flutterfly collar at other events and from their Etsy store. They frequently release special seasonal editions and new styles; we love the bright colours and prints that the collars come in, as well as how light and durable they are – Milo feels comfortable wearing them. Also, the material is long-lasting – I haven’t had to throw a single one away. I’ve hand-washed a couple of them and they’re as good as new. The safety breakaway buckle that prevents choking and entangling also gives us an extra sense of security. Shipping is quick, even during peak seasons such as Christmas.

The customer service has been amazing! They specially made a collar in my requested style and material after I met them at one of their events, even though the design was sold out online; and they shipped it to me within a few days. By shopping at GOOOD Pet Collars, you’re not only purchasing quality products that look adorable on your pet, but you also help to champion a good cause, as purchases from the store go towards supporting animal welfare groups in Singapore.”
