You may have heard of UFIT; it’s a popular fitness and wellness brand in Singapore with over 100 coaches and clinicians working hard to keep countless people fit and healthy. The UFIT journey started in 2009, with small bootcamps. By 2011, the team had already launched their flagship studio in Amoy Street. Now, they have another baby: a beautiful new centrally based studio, Studio@Fairmont, focusing on personal training and private group fitness classes. Expat Living’s Jacqui Young went down for a look; find her review below, and read on for a special offer for first-time visitors!
Personal training with a pool view!
Health and fitness is at the forefront of so many people’s minds in current times – including mine. So, I was looking forward to trying the brand new UFIT studio so I could work on my wellbeing. It’s in a beautiful location – poolside at the five-star Fairmont Hotel, with amazing views to work out to. Plus there’s no need for a membership, it’s open to all!
The fabulous team managing the studio and helping with everyone’s fitness and wellness journeys consists of personal training crew, Chris Hodges, Lee Kong Ee and Jayme Ng. They’ll take care of you with various options on offer from private personal training to private group training where the entire gym space is dedicated to you. They also offer Sports For Life programmes for 6-to-18-year-olds; this is a really great option to introduce sport to young ones, plus there are options for small group classes starting in May, so keep an eye out for them on the site.
Our group training session
I headed to Studio@Fairmont with a bunch of friends to try a group fitness class with Jayme. She really put us though our paces! There were five of us, and we had the place to ourselves.
First, we did a fun warm-up session, mainly on bikes and rowing machines. We were looking out over the pool, which instantly lifted our moods. This was followed by some repetitive sets of the usual favourites: kneeling presses, goblet squats, ball slams and glute bridges. Next came some essential core work – we were keen for it to work its magic after all our work-from-home naughtiness! This was followed by some nice body-conditioning and a relaxing warm-down.
Jayme made sure that everyone was well looked after, adjusting the exercises according to our individual level of fitness. It was exhausting but also a lot of fun at the same time. The smaller group sizes ensure lots of personal attention – again, with the added bonus of being in a bright beautiful space!
