If racing through rugged outback roads and tracks amid motor roars and fans’ cheers sounds like your kind of adventure, you should already be signed up for Australasian Safari 2012.
For the 27th year running, Australasian Safari competitors traverse through the diverse landscapes of Western Australia on modified cars, motocycles and quads in Australia’s version of The Dakar Rally.
On 21 to 29 September, competitors will flag-off from Perth north to Geraldton, up the coast to tropical Carnarvon – the southern gateway to the Ningaloo World Heritage Area – and inland through the Gascoyne region, skirting around the Kennedy Ranges before heading south again to finish in Geraldton.
Throughout the seven legs of the journey, competitors will have to deal with adverse weather conditions and motor breakdowns, among many other challenges.
For those of you itching to get involved it’s not too late to jump on the bandwagon. Applications close 31 August 2012, visit their website for more details. Spectators get to watch for free.
