Online shopping in Singapore: How to save on fashion, beauty and electronic buys with Bonusbay.sg

By: Cherylene Chan

Pride yourself in shopping savvy? If you’re constantly praying for a gigantic sale to come up, or hunting for discount codes, I’ve found something that’ll save time and please your wallets.

Bonusbay is a spanking new shopping portal that actually lets you earn some money back when shopping. And believe it or not, it’s completely free to use. Unable to resist, I toddled on for a light shopping sesh the other day. Read on to see how it went….

1. Create an account
Signing up to Bonusbay is quicker than slipping on your favourite pair of shoes. All I needed to key in was an email address, and they sent an activation e-mail to set a password. Tip: Sign up through this glorious Expat Living Page and you’ll instantly chalk up a $5 bonus as a warm welcome.

2. Browse the list of stores and click “Get Bonus”
Bonusbay has teamed up with over 200 stores, both local and international, across every category possible. As a clothes hoarder, I was chuffed to see popular shops like Shopbop, Apple Store and Luisaviaroma on there.

Locking in on Zalora (eight percent cashback for newbies, score!), I clicked “Get Bonus” and got whisked off the store’s website – Zalora.sg in this case. This bit is VITAL, as the online store you’re purchasing from will then recognise you as a Bonusbay user and factor in the cashback.

3. Shop away
A process we’re all no doubt familiar with. Fawn over the selection of clothes, add your haul to the cart and check out as usual. I decided this was the perfect time to get a cosy cardigan for the office…

4. Sit tight and wait
After you’ve made purchases, bonus dollars will show up in your account. However as the cashback comes straight out of Bonusbay’s commission from the partner store, it will take some waiting (up to two months). Nonetheless, seeing the money pool over time is oh-so-satisfying, and you can request for the balance to be moved to your Paypal account once it hits $15. And what can you do with the little pay-out? More shopping, of course (Or so the clothes horse in me believes).

Curious to try it out for yourself? Sign up through this glorious Expat Living Page and you’ll instantly chalk up a $5 bonus as a warm welcome.
