On stage in Singapore: Live music, theatre and dance in November

The credit card is going to get a workout this month, with so much live music, theatre and dance to enjoy. Check our online calendar for more.

For its third original resident production, Resorts World Sentosa has teamed up with songwriter Dick Lee to produce this multi-million-dollar fantasy musical featuring stars from London’s West End. Lightseeker will light up the stage with thrilling epic battles and special effects and has a mesmerising plot. The production runs from 24 November 2013 to 23 March 2014 at the Resorts World Sentosa Theatre. Tickets from $48 from RWS ticketing counters, website and Sistic.


A French Kiss in Singapore
After the success of 8 Women in April, Sing’Theatre is back with eight men on stage in A French Kiss In Singapore. This one-of-a-kind musical revue conveys the humorous, touching and capricious nature of love and has a home-grown Singaporean flavour. Catch nightly performances at 8pm from Tuesday to Sunday, and weekend matinees at 4pm from 27 November to 7 December. School of the Arts Drama Theatre. Tickets from $35 available from Sistic.

Swan Lake

One hundred dancers from Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet will perform Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, together with the 66-member Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra. This is one not to be missed. 20 to 24 November. Wednesday to Saturday 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 2pm. Esplanade Theatre. Tickets from Sistic.

Once Upon a Time
A classic collection of Grimm’s Fairy Tales told through energetic physical theatre, music, masks, puppetry and song. Step into a magical world of talking and singing beasts, princesses and servants, magic and mystery, heroes and villains. 1 to 17 November. Suitable for children aged four and older. Animal Magic
L’Arsenal à Musique and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra present Carnival of the Animals, a magical place where lions, kangaroos, turtles and other animals are brought to life through small and large marionettes. 22 November. 11am and 1pm. Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets from Sistic.
