We bring you the exclusive scoop on what’s hot and buzzing in the Expat Living beauty department every month, so you won’t be left behind. From the latest skincare launches, to the newest makeup trends, here’s what you need to get in on this month.
#1 Tangs Plaza has a new beauty wing
In need of a lunchtime facial? Now you can squeeze in an appointment at Beauty Services at Tangs Plaza Level 4, the mall’s newest wing. Spoil yourself silly with the luxury facials at Chanel, Dior and Sulwhasoo boutiques, then visit Urbanhair for a hair treatment or blowout. Don’t forget to browse the eco-luxury skincare brands retailing on display; the award-winning goodies from Eve Lom, Kat Burki and May Coop are on top of our lust list!
#2 We’re eyeing Kat Von D Beauty’s new lip liners
Get in on the matte lip trend! Kat Von D Beauty has launched its new Everlasting Lip Liners ($28), which boast a matte, long-wearing, waterproof formula. From wearable nudes to classic reds and bolder, darker hues, the full collection of thirty 30 shades is available at Sephora.
#3 The Body Shop has launched a green tea haircare range
Beyond personal consumption, green tea is also used as a beauty fix – one way is to rest two damp teabags under your eyes to reduce puffiness! The Body Shop has tapped on this purifying ingredient with its recently launched Fiji Green Tea Refreshingly Purifying Cleansing Hair Scrub ($29). Formulated without silicones, the hair scrub is a blend of Japanese green tea, mint menthol, salt crystals and community-trade honey. Simply massage the non-drying formula into the scalp to get rid of impurities like sweat, dust, and styling residue.
#4 Try sugaring, an all-natural hair removal method
If you haven’t already heard, Singapore’s first and only professional body-sugaring studio, Sugar(ed), has just opened a new salon in the east. Sugaring, an alternative to waxing, is an epilation method using a 100 percent water-soluble sugar paste. Made from white sugar, water and lemon juice, the paste is completely safe for the skin. Try it at the new Katong outlet (79 East Coast); you’ll want to book in advance as slots are snapped up fast!
#5 This micellar cleansing water is certified organic
Swedish skincare brand Estelle & Thild has launched a new organic cleansing water. Apart from removing makeup, the multi-tasker also cleanses and tones the skin with its gentle and hydrating formula. Aloe vera is infused for nourishment, while natural coconut “tensides” are added to break down dirt and grease. The Biocleanse Micellar Cleansing Water retails at Sephora for $38.
#6 Get customised skincare for your man
If your man’s clueless about skincare, a customised kit (from $200) or a monthly subscription service works great as a gift to get him started. TONIC Grooming, an online platform created to simplify skincare for men, recommends specific products for different skin types. All he needs to do is to fill up the online skin assessment form and voila! – the system will suggest a full kit consisting of a cleanser, day moisturiser, moisturising and exfoliant.
#7 Maintain your hair colour with Kérastase’s new range
Looking to refresh your hair colour, or keen to go one shade darker? Prolong your hair colour with the Kérastase Reflections collection, which promises softness, bounce and shine with colour intensity for up to 40 days. The products – priced from $39 for a bottle of shampoo (Bain Chromatique) – are tailored for blonde, brown, copper and red hair. But, if you can, go all out and get a full salon experience at the newly opened Mi The Salon instead. It’s defo worth the splurge – just request the Touche Revivant Ritual (from $160)!
