Le Jour de L’italienne: The Stage Club’s latest French production

Following the huge success of its last two productions in French (Huit Femmes in 2009 and l’Avare in 2010), The Stage Club is once again producing a play for the lovers of the French language. Director Mylène Koenig has selected a modern play whose script is both comical and classical.

Le Jour de l’italienne is a play within a play and takes us behind the scenes of a theatre production. We are invited to witness the work of a young company rehearsing a famous play, The Test, by French author Marivaux. It promises to be a laugh as the audience gets a glimpse into the way this new troop is rehearsing, from the first reading to the final rehearsal, while being transported to 18th-century France.

Everyone interested in French culture will enjoy this comedy – not just French speakers – as English subtitles will be provided.
