The years are flying by and the kids are growing up soooo quickly. Treasure these moments and create memories by throwing a brilliant bash for your (not-so) little one’s next birthday. We’ve found four exciting places that are sure to have the birthday boy or girl grinning with delight. But, to before you find the venue, a few things to think about before.
Birthday Party Checklist
- Come up with a budget and stick to it.
- Decide on a theme – princesses, Transformers, dogs, music – whatever takes their fancy!
- Choose a location – at home, or at your kid’s favourite activity centre or restaurant – and be sure to make an advance reservation!
- Create a guest list and send out invitations as early as possible to prevent any disappointments.
- Order the birthday cake, or decide what type of cake you want to make.
- Plan the food. Choose to self-prepare food or get a caterer, and find out if any guest has special dietary needs.
- Think about what to include in the goodie bags.
- Decide on the decorations.
- Plan some short, fun party games
- – but do remember to allow time for mingling, too!
Most importantly, don’t stress! Try to enjoy the day as much as your child does.

We had a good host for Alysa’s party who was able to relate to the kids very well. The instructions given were clear and there was a wide variety of activities for the children to enjoy. – Ng Wan Har

Let the kids get creative by throwing them a party at Inspired Arts. The studio’s two-hour birthday package includes hands-on activities, food, gifts and “fill your own” goodie bags, a personalised slideshow, fun games and a special gift for the birthday girl or boy. Parties are hosted by Hamish, an experienced art teacher, and Coco, who has been running children’s programmes and parties for many years. Kids will have a blast taking part in fun activities, from making their own art (painting, printmaking and steampunk) to creating their own party bag and games such as Pass the Parcel. They’ll then be treated to kid-friendly eats such as pizza, fries and chicken wings with a selection of drinks. Healthy food options can be catered for.
“Beatrice’s birthday party at Inspired Arts was memorable! The party was filled with fun and creative art activities in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Children could also choose the content for their goodie bags, from fun items such as candy and stationery. The only thing I needed to take care of was the birthday cake!” – Lara Gregori
Give your kid a birthday party they’ll never forget with a pizza party at Jamie’s Italian. At these fun and interactive bashes, the Jamie’s team aims to share their expertise and bring out the creativity in each child. The cooking session starts with pizza making where little ones can try their hand at stretching their own pizza dough, topping it up with their favourite ingredients and then, of course, eating their own creations! After this, there’ll be an attempt to make the longest pasta possible from the pasta-extruding machine. Besides all the fun, there’s also the chance to learn more about food and the art of cooking. Parents aren’t left out; they’ll also learn a thing or two about edible herbs during the restaurant’s herb garden tour. Finally, you can expect full catering for both adults and kids at a Jamie’s Italian party – and even a customised cake for the birthday girl or boy.
Tanglin Arts Studio
Tanglin Arts Studio specialises in creating the dream birthday party for every little performer. Parties are tailor-made to fit each individual, from the structure and games to dance and song choices. Choose from themes and types of dance such as ballet, jazz, hip hop and disco to Disney and princess parties. Qualified and energetic dance instructors will be on hand to get those little hands and feet moving. At the end of the dance session, the kids will put on a short performance where they will showcase their new moves – with the birthday girl or boy as the star! Besides dancing, little ones will be entertained with party games, food, drinks and will have a fun goodie bag ($15 per bag) to take home. You can also choose to have the party at the studio or at a location of your choice. If it’s held in the studio, food and beverages are supplied by Jax’s Bistro, the Hollandse Club’s onsite bistro. Bring along your own cake, but leave the decorations and balloons to the studio’s party planners.
