I’ve just had two nights at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, the only New Zealand property named in Conde Naste’s Gold List and ranked number 74 in the world. The exclusive resort sits in acres of fantastic scenery and a working farm – the very definition of ‘getting away from it all’. There are also three private beaches, a forest and of course the top ranking golf course (which the main lodge overlooks).
There are 22 guest suites and a large owners’ cottage. The decor throughout is exceptional and each suite has a private verandah that overlooks forest, golf course and the ocean.
The golf course – designed by David Harman – is also one of the best around, scoring a 99.2/100. The fairway is almost as smooth as the greens (positioned right on the coast of the Pacific Ocean) and probably one of the most impressive golf courses in the world.
Kauri Cliffs is also one of the top-ranked hotels for food, and I can confirm their meals were definitely the most delicious I have ever had!
The stunning resort is in the Relais & Chateaux stable of hotels, and Kauri’s sister companies include Cape Kidnappers in Hawkes Bay and Matakauri in Queenstown. If you want to pick a luxurious hotel for a special occasion, just have a click through those.
I’ll be writing a longer account of our stay at Kauri Cliffs, but for now, enjoy photo highlights from our wonderful stay in the gallery above.
