At the start of every year we tend to want to revamp our lifestyles, but what about our homes too? If you’re anything like me and like to give your pad a refresh, then you have to check out these new smart home appliances and gadgets in Singapore. Not only do they look modern and sophisticated, but many of them can make your life easier – from keeping your house cool to cleaning up – and can be controlled through your phone! Here’s what’s on our radar…
Do you find it annoying to keep having to adjust the air-con temperatures throughout your home? Ambi Climate, an AI-enabled smart air conditioner controller, means you won’t have to. This clever little gadget uses special sensors and processes live data about how you like the temperature in your home, and quickly learns to adjust it to your liking. What’s more, it will continuously auto-adjust your air conditioning for both your comfort and to save energy. Win-win! $199, view more info and stockists on the Ambi Climate website.
Sonos Beam Speakers
Been thinking of upgrading your home entertainment system? Introducing Sonos Beam, a versatile smart speaker for your living room which delivers awesome sound quality throughout your home for any content you’re streaming. Whether you’re watching movies and TV shows or music and podcasts, Beam supports over 80 music services, as well as Amazon Alexa and Apple Airplay 2. What’s more, it comes in either black or white so you can choose what suits your decor best. $699, available at Harvey Norman.
If you’re not yet convinced that AI is the future, then I think Google Home will change your mind! These speakers enable you to speak voice commands to interact with Google’s personal assistant, Google Assistant. Want to listen to music, play videos on your TV or hear news updates by voice? Just ask. Not just that, there’s plenty of home appliances that the Google Home devices can control, like lights and air-con. We also love that fact that the Google Assistant launched in Singapore has been localised to recognise Singlish, and it also supports YouTube, Spotify, Netflix and local radio stations. You can choose from the full-size Google Home speaker of the Google Mini, the main difference being range and sound quality. Available at Courts for $189 or $79.
Samsung Family Hub 4-Door Refrigerator
Not only does this fridge actually look good, it does way more than keep your food fresh! The roomy Samsung Family Hub has an app called View Inside which enables you to check what’s inside your fridge (now that will come in handy when you’re at the supermarket and can’t quite remember if you’ve bought everything you need!). What’s more, it has a calendar you can manage you and the family’s daily routine on, plays music, video and more. Available at Courts for $7,499.
IRobot Roomba 690 Wifi Vacuum Robot
Finally, a vacuum cleaner you can schedule! Compatible with both Google Home and Amazon Alexa, the Roomba 690 uses a three stage cleaning system with various multi-surface brushes to sweep anything from dust and grime to large debris off your floor. It’s cool technology is able to recognise areas of dirt and give those areas an additional clean. You can schedule the vacuum using the iRobot Home App on your phone. Available at Courts, $838.
