Colour your hair with less damage!

25th April 2022 by Expat Living 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/hair-damage-treatment-for-damaged-hair/

For those of us who regularly get highlights, it can be a worry thinking about what hair damage is being done. When we heard about a new technology being used at Chez Vous to combat this damaged hair, we sent EL reader TINA KARL to try it out.

Hair Defence Technology is an all-new pre-service hair treatment available at Singapore salon Chez Vous. It uses a combination of plex therapies and active ingredients to fortify the different molecular levels of the hair during chemical processing, helping reduce potential hair damage by up to 50 percent. The technology has been developed by the salon itself and is exclusive to the Chez Vous main outlet.

How the hair damage treatment works

Step 1: Before highlighting my hair with a lightener, my stylist Serene Tan, Chief Director at Chez Vous, first preps my mane to amplify its resilience to harsh chemicals. She begins by spraying patented peptides onto the damaged hair (from previous treatments) to penetrate into the inner-most layers and reconnect the polypeptide chains.

Step 2: The hair is then saturated with electrolysed water containing 18 different types of amino acids. This special (and pricey!) water helps deliver the active ingredients deeply within seconds, for instant restoration and to reduce the hair’s porosity.

Step 3: Cortex CMC is then applied to combat the dryness that will inevitably occur during the bleaching process.

Step 4: After processing my hair, Serene replenishes lost nutrients using more amino acids and moisture before locking it in with Kappaphycus Alvarezii and Laminaria Saccharina Extract. These red and brown algae help form ionic and hydrogen bonds to strengthen hair fibres, while boosting elasticity.

Step 5: After a shampoo, more patented peptides and an ingredient known as Bis-aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate are added to the toner to reconnect the hair bonds.

Step 6: After toning the hair and neutralising the undertones, my hair is then infused with both cortex and cuticle CMC for optimal hydration.

Step 7: I also opted to add on an Express Hair Lamination treatment to protect my hair cuticles for greater manageability and shine.

The verdict

I was anxious about putting my highlights in the hands of a colourist I’d not been to before, but Chez Vous is welcoming and friendly, and Serene put me at ease immediately. She frequently explained the various steps of my treatment, and the outcome was really pleasing. The condition of my hair felt brilliant and the colour was one of the best I’ve had. I would 100 percent recommend both Chez Vous and Serene if you’re looking for a spa-like hair treatment in the heart of Orchard.

Why it’s important to reduce hair damage

During chemical services, cuticles are “opened”, causing amino acids, moisture and CMC to “leak” out. Bonds are broken, too, leading to hair breakage, brittleness and dryness. Unlike skin, our hair can’t regenerate itself, so it’s important to minimise damage before it happens – not just focus on a cure.

If you’re going to bleach, colour, perm or rebond your hair, incorporate the all-new Hair Defence Technology by Chez Vous. Your hair will thank you later!

Special offer: A trial promo price of $455 (plus 7 percent GST) includes: haircut; highlights, bleach or balayage; toning or colour; Hair Defence Technology; and the option of add-on Express Hair Lamination ($100 plus GST).

Chez Vous Hair Salon (Main Outlet) is at #05-05 Ngee Ann City Podium, 391 Orchard Road.
