‘Tis the season to be jolly – what better way to celebrate than to eat, drink and enjoy a tipple (or two, no judgement!), after a hard year’s work! If you’re looking for recommendations on where to take your friends or family over the holidays, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite bars. Cheers!
1. Cook & Brew
Located in The Westin Singapore, Cook & Brew features a plush, luxurious space – the kind of bar James Bond would lean on sipping a Vesper. Deep wood floors, dark red leather, a black marble-top bar and large furry armchairs come together to create a very classy but oh-so-comfortable vibe (excuse me while I take a nap in the armchair!).
Located on level 33, enjoy spectacular views of the Singapore flyer and the Marina Bay area by night as you sip one of their signature cocktails – The Grinch, or their festive concoction, the Christmas Chocomint. The Grinch features a mix of Maker’s Mark bourbon whiskey, Monin Green Apple and apple juice, topped with apple cider. Served with a cinnamon stick for that hint of festivity, this cocktail is sure to soothe the scrooges among us for a truly enjoyable celebration.
Christmas Chocomint, true to its name, is full of minty, chocolatey goodness. An indulgent concoction of Belvedere Vodka, Bols Yogurt, Monin Mint, Hersey’s Chocolate Syrup and Mozart White Chocolate Vanilla Cream Liqueur; it’s served with a candy cane. If this doesn’t put the Christmas in Christmassy, we don’t know what will!
2. Grand Hyatt Singapore
If you’re happy to spend an evening with a glass – or many – of good, premium Champagne (and a meal on the side), you’ll love the dinner buffets at any one of the five dining outlets in Grand Hyatt Singapore. The buffet includes a free-flow of Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut Champagne (oh my!), Parker Coonawarra estate series cabernet sauvignon, Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc, tiger beer, and house-made mojitos and Bloody Mary’s. Buying in to any of their NYE dinners (except for Oasis) includes a complimentary ticket to their Belle Époque countdown party where you can count down to the New Year right in the hotel lobby, Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque vintage champagne in hand (free-flow). A live band will be performing.
3. Luxe Sydney
If you’re way past pulling an all-nighter but looking for a cosy space for a Christmas or New Year get-together, contemporary, elegant dining venue Luxe Sydney is the place to go. We’re huge fans of their Early Tipple, an Earl-grey infused cocktail (so delish!), and don’t miss their Christmas cocktails, the Spiced Pear Martini and the Berry Spritz. They also do a wickedly original Asian-inspired Pandan Colada that’s made with coconut rum, pandan extract, and coconut milk. The drink menu is a select list of 9 cocktails, but friendly bartender Richard will whip up a drink if you share your favourite flavours!
4. Le Bar
Chic, cosy and inspired by 19th century colonial-era pavilions, Le Bar is airy and plush, and a wonderful setting for a get-together with friends over drinks. Located on Sentosa Island and embedded within Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa, you’ll get a view of the resort’s expansive pool and its nearby ponds – a gorgeous, glistening view by night.
LeBar’s signature cocktail is The Sentosa Sling, a vodka-based tipple of vibrant tropical colours – a dash of pink peach liqueur, a sparkling splash of blue curacao and the greens and yellows of lime and pineapple juice. If you’re interested in a poolside NYE countdown party, they offer free flow French-inspired mocktails, premium champagne, wines and beers. Prices vary, book ahead.
5. HI-SO Rooftop Pool Bar
HI-SO is where Paris meets Singapore. A rooftop club and bar with gorgeous views of Singapore’s skyline, mixologists swizzle and swirl stunning designer cocktails. HI-SO is hosting both a countdown party as well as a pool party on New Year’s Day. Drinks include affordable Bloody Mary’s and Mojitos, beer, wine, house pours and Tattinger Champagne.
There’s plenty more places to grab a drink in Singapore.
