The Indonesian island of Batam is growing in popularity as a weekend destination for Singapore dwellers. Here we profile one of its newest hotels.
Opening its doors in 2016, the Radisson Golf & Convention Center has 240 comfy rooms and suites, and some unique offerings for a Batam hotel. Guests love the views of the infinity pool and golf course from the balconies, and there are also some sightseeing spots nearby, including Barelang Bridge – actually a chain of six different bridges connecting Batam’s various islands – and a Chinese temple.
Golf anyone?
From a golf perspective, Padang Golf Sukajadi is a short walk from the hotel, and it’s a course that offers four different tee locations to suit golfers of all abilities. The signature hole is the pretty par-4 sixth, with an uphill green surrounded by trees.
For non-golfers, or for those who want time away from the course, there’s the Zoysia Spa with Thai therapists, along with a fitness centre and a sauna. Once you’re rejuvenated and ready for a bit more action, try your hand at archery, paintball, hoverboarding, or take a ride on a Segway – and children will love the 120-square-metre Kids’ Club. While the little ones are busy, the infinity pool and Jacuzzi are perfect places to chill with a cocktail or mocktail.
If you’re looking to take your staff somewhere as a thank-you, or you need a corporate destination with a mix of fun and relaxation, the resort has extensive meeting facilities, from an exclusive boardroom to a huge ballroom.
The other bonus? It’s so close to Singapore, you can go even for just a single night. Having said that, a stay of two nights and three days will give you time to completely unwind!
