A fabulous Christmas workshop and buffet in one!
If making – and munching – gingerbread houses is one of your kids’ favourite Christmas traditions, then book a spot at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore’s popular workshop this year.

Why do we love it so? Let us count the ways:
1. It’s decor galore.
This workshop does not scrimp on the decorations. First, they are adorable – choose from gummy bears, sprinkles, M&Ms and frosted cookies to more elaborate Christmas trees, Santa and snowmen baubles – all edible, of course. Second, they are limitless – that’s right, your little tyke can stock up at the decorations station and use as many as they like, depending on their little architectural design preferences.

2. There are a slew of chefs on hand to help.
Here’s where things get good for the parents. There are so many chefs on hand to help the little ones, it leaves you free to kick back and photograph to your heart’s content – and sneak in a few sweet treats from the tiny buffet. The kids get to feel like little chefs themselves; they each get a festive chef’s toque and apron to wear and take home.
3. There is SO much more than gingerbread to sample.
Did we mention tiny buffet? There is an adorable array of sandwiches (crustless, of course), savoury pastries and goodies on a buffet set about 18 inches from the floor. The height may signals it’s made for the little ones, but parents can certainly enjoy the offerings, too. It’s a feast – seriously, don’t eat before you go.

4. So many sessions.
What good is one session in a town of 5.6 million people? Shangri-La offers four sessions every weekend from 24 November to 16 December, so something is sure to fit your schedule.
5. A gingerbread house is the gift that keeps on giving.
When you’re done decorating, the Shangri-La staff box up your gingerbread house for safe transport. Your kids may ask if they can eat the whole house on the way home – like mine did – but let them instead pick a few treats every day in December and slowly dismantle their creation.
