Swedish brand COS has done it again with its latest collection, featuring minimalist shapes, perfect tailoring and pared-down essentials. The collection combines the softness of white, black and pastel blues with zingy fluorescent hues, letting strong silhouettes do all the talking. #03-23/23A ION Orchard.
We’re currently loving Aussie designers, and our latest find is the new range from label Bowerhaus, available at Embrace jewellery boutique. Boasting designs in freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones that will easily take you from work to play, this cool label was founded by two sisters who were inspired both by their father’s vintage coin collection and their mother’s pearls. Parisian inspiration shines through the simple, classic designs in their latest range. Prices start from an affordable $49.90. Available at Embrace Jewellery, #01-15 Orchard Gateway.
Longchamp redefines sportswear cool through its new, very wearable Spring 2015 collection. Sophisticated shapes are given a sporty twist (think relaxed shift dresses and sweatshirt-style tops), while sportswear basics are dressed up with luxe fabrics (think sweatshirt-shaped tops in satin). This collection has two contrasting themes, “Freshness” and “Light”; one of the colour palettes consists of fluorescent pastels, drawn from the Northern Lights, while inspiration from water sports is evident in the knotted-rope print, which appears on a series of pieces in polyester and silk. Prices from $364. #03-15A ION Orchard.
Back To Basics
Tired of having to throw out wardrobe staples way before time because they’ve lost their shape? Check out Paula Ryan’s Essentials range, available in Singapore through online e-tailer Inverted Edge. All the clothing is made from fine quality New Zealand merino and Italian micro-modal, both of which have a greater absorbency than cotton and are made from natural fibres for breathability. Prices might seem a tad high, but not when you consider how long these garments will last you for.
You’ll love the traditionally handcrafted clothing and accessories from new women’s wear brand Patricia Rox, which has just landed on Singapore’s shores. Founder and designer Patricia Haywood is a global nomad, having lived and travelled all over the world, and it shows through her label: think floaty, kaftan shapes in exotic prints and bright and bold colours that are just perfect for island living. All designs are available online (and look out for a flagship store opening soon, too).
Forget florals, we’ve gone bananas for Spanish brand Bimba Y Lola’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Tropicana. Full of prints of wildlife and landscapes, with fruity accents, it hearkens back to Brazil’s carnival culture and sandy beaches. We’re craving sun, sea and sand already.
Perfect for travel-seekers and free spirits, the new range from Aussie-based Helen Kaminski draws inspiration from the cultures of remote Pacific islands and oozes a relaxed resort-style vibe. Choose anything from elegant, wide-brimmed hats to sharp fedoras in natural materials, such as cotton or raffia braids, or oversized clutches and versatile totes perfect for your next travel adventure. Prices from $163 to $400 for hats, and $375 to $700 for bags.
If you’re looking for a sturdy and hard-wearing travel bag for the New Year, check out heritage brand Hartmann, which has just launched a new store – its tenth boutique in Asia – in Wisma Atria. Everything from carry-on laptop bags to iconic Pullman suitcases boasts quality craftsmanship, not to mention being light as a feather. Prices range from $160 for a bag to $2,900 for a large travel case. #02-12/13 Wisma Atria.
