4 fun family staycays – with deals!

22nd December 2020 by Lindsay Yap 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/family-friendly-hotels-in-singapore-staycation-deals-kids-activities/

We mightn’t be able to travel for a while yet but there are plenty of family-friendly hotels in Singapore for a fun family staycation – with lots of kids’ activities in and around the hotel. Book now and snag some staycation deals for the year ahead! Not sure where to stay? Here’s a list of great family staycation spots. The brood will be kept happy and entertained, and you’ll have a change of scenery!

#1 Hotel Michael

Hotel Michael at Resorts World Sentosa is a great place to stay to enjoy the island’s popular attractions, including Universal Studios and Adventure Cove Waterpark. The hotel has a variety of comfy room types that work well for a family staycation. You can opt for the Two-Bedroom Deluxe Suite, which sleeps up to four adults and four children (below 12). After a day out, pop downstairs for hearty Italian dishes at Pizzeria or Cantonese fare at TungLok Heen.

If you prefer to head out, plenty of entertainment and dining options are walking distance away. The property is also linked to the Sentosa monorail; that means you can easily travel to other parts of the island or to VivoCity. If you want some time to yourself, and they’re old enough..drop the children off at Resorts World Sentosa Kids Club where children can enjoy fun kids’ activities including crafts and games.

How much: From $315 per night (weekday rates)

#2 The Fullerton Hotel

If you’ve always wanted to stay at The Fullerton, a Singapore icon, now’s the time! You’ll be glad to know that kids stay free (one child aged 11 and below when using the beds provided). There are many types of rooms and suites to choose from, from those overlooking the courtyard to others with views of Marina Bay.

Guests can take part in the hotel’s family-friendly activities – and some are free! There’s daily fish feeding at the koi pond (5pm to 5.10pm) and visits to the Fullerton Farm to check out fruit, plants and herbs (Tuesday and Friday, until 30 December 2020). Guests can also book a vintage vespa sidecar ride. Or, if you’re staying with little foodies, make them feel grown up by having afternoon tea at The Courtyard. You won’t be far from Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, too, so you could head there for the day.

How much: From $424 per night (weekday rates)

#3 Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel

For those who enjoy the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road, an excellent family staycation option is Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. It’s close to great malls with loads of shopping and dining choices for the whole family (ION Orchard and Wheelock Place are just minutes away). The hotel is also located right above Orchard MRT station; that means you can zip to other parts of Singapore in no time!

The hotel itself has a couple of great dining spots; from local and international fare at Crossroads to Chinese cuisine at Wan Hao. Room-wise, guests can pick from a selection of modern rooms and suites, including those with pool access (what kid wouldn’t love that?).

How much: From $330 per night (weekday rates)

#4 JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach

Great for a family staycation, JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach is located just opposite Suntec City. It’s also close to other malls and attractions such as Marina Square (which houses indoor playgrounds Kiztopia and Pororo Park) and the Singapore Flyer. If you prefer to eat in, there are some good restaurants to try, including Michelin-starred Japanese fare at Akira Back and an international buffet at Beach Road Kitchen.

Amongst the accommodation offerings here are family rooms that come with a king size bed and a sofa bed for young ones. Kids (and parents) can also enjoy the infinity pool and children’s pool at Flow18.

How much: From $377 per night (weekday rates)

Where to book your family staycation?

Expedia is a super useful website for making your staycation bookings. It has a wide variety of accommodation for different budgets and needs, including family-friendly hotels. Plus, there are brilliant staycation promotions to take advantage of. You’ll also find local tours, attractions and other fun activities, including bus tours, cable car rides, trips to Universal Studios and even cooking classes.

For even more convenience, download the Expedia mobile app so you can browse and book on the go! What’s more, you can access app-exclusive discounts and get double rewards points.

To snag the best rates on Expedia, book your hotel stays on a Monday night when you can find the lowest average daily rates (according to an Expedia study on past trends).
