Extended MRT line along Singapore’s East Coast will add nine stations from Sungei Bedok to Tanjong Rhu

Good news for those who have snapped up properties along the East Coast! It’s been announced that the MRT will connect Sungei Bedok to Tanjong Rhu with a new line that runs through nine extra statons.

The Thomson-East Coast Line will run along the coast, before joining up to 22 stations in the north of Singapore (which will be part of the Thomson Line).

The stations can be seen in the poor quality, yet snazzy graphic below…

As well as joining the new Thomson Line in the north, the Thomson-East Coast Line will also connect with the Downtown Line, which will extend to Xilin and Sungei Bedok.

While this is cracking news for Singapore – the new lines will halve the commuting time for many East Coast residents – don’t go flocking to the neighbourhoods just yet. The stations won’t be ready until 2023-24.
