thINK: Chinese Calligraphy, Connoisseurship, and Collecting
23 December, 2020 - 28 February, 2021
In “thINK: Chinese Calligraphy, Connoisseurship, and Collecting”, the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) brings together history and the contemporary through the collection of Dr Yuan Shao Liang. A long-time lender to ACM, he has supported the museum since it opened in 1997. 23 objects were selected from Dr Yuan’s collection of literati objects as well as books and letters from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
With the aim to evoke personal responses towards the act of remembering and collecting, the exhibition introduces visitors to human-to-human relationships, political sentiments, military affairs, and antiquity trading through the Chinese ink and literati pieces.
