The Manhattan Transfer
The Manhattan Transfer returns to the Esplanade this September after last performing here eight years ago. Known for their great pop and jazz hits, they made their first record back in 1972. Their debut album included “Operator”, which gave the group their first national hit. Their vocal remake of the classic “Birdland” also became recognised as their anthem and earned them their first two Grammy Awards.
The quartet is made out of Janis Siegel, Alan Paul and Cheryl Bentyne, and Trist Curless who joined as an official member of the group. All of them maintain the integrity and artistry left by late founding member Tim Hauser.
