The Dream from the Other Side by Melissa Tan
28 October - 13 December
“The Dream from the Other Side” by Singaporean Melissa Tan takes a historical look at the mapping of Singapore from one of the earliest topographical maps in 1958, to those of the present day. The exhibition is part of SAM Mini Mobile Museum, a travelling art exhibition held in partnership with the National Library Board.
Over the course of its showing across the three libraries – Woodlands, Jurong and Tampines Regional Libraries – the installation will morph to represent how these three different areas have transformed over time. The surfacing or disappearing of new towns and water bodies amongst other features, have caused these regions to change in shape and size, changes that will be reflected in each sculpture as the exhibition progresses.
