Te’Taurea, the Transmission of Culture
9 December @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Discover the story behind Polynesia and the way Tahitians and Hawaiians have passed down their stories through the power of dance. This December, Ori Tahiti Singapore and School of Hawaiian Hula Singapore, Ka Pa Hula Ka Lei Maile Hi’ilani come together to present Te Tau’rea, the transmission of culture.
Both Ori Tahiti and Hawaiian hula are traditional dances that share one similarity – historic artforms that tell the stories of the people through music and movement. However, the new Polynesian generation will forget all these traditions if they are not preserved. Although the Internet and education have broadened our horizons, it has impacted the transmission of Polynesia’s languages and cultural identity.
For one magical night, be transported by a cast of Singaporean and international ladies as they tell you stories that have been passed down from generations.
