Tammie Matson: Hope and Renewal in Rwanda – Akagera’s Elephants
17 January @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Royal Geographical Society Singapore is hosting the inspirational Dr Tammie Matson at Eden Hall, The British High Commission. She will be speaking about her attempts to save one of the most iconic animals in the world, the elephant. The demand for ivory led to a 30% decline in the elephant population of Africa in the seven years leading up to 2014. Tammie will discuss her early observations from field work studying the elephants in Akagera today and will discuss the implications for the many orphaned elephants resulting from the latest poaching epidemic.
