Rachel Barton Pine
26 October - 1 November
Violinist Rachel Barton Pine joins the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for three concerts when she’ll be performing works by Elgar, Bruch and Metallica. Rachel is the Esplanade’s artist-in-residence for three concerts celebrating British music, including Elgar’s Enigma Variations (Esplanade Concert Hall, 1 November) and Bruch’s beautiful Scottish Fantasy (Esplanade Concert Hall, 26 October). In “Shredding with Rachel Barton Pine” (Victoria Concert Hall, 27 October) she will be joined by three musicians from the orchestra to explore the links between metal and classical music. She is a lifelong metal fan and used to be in a doom metal band. Ever wondered what Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” would sound like on a 300-year-old violin? Now’s your chance to find out!
