Important issues around self harm, depression and suicide with Dr Sanveen Kang of Psych Connect
15 October @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
These past few weeks, our good friend Dr Sanveen Kang has, sadly, been on overdrive mode due to an increased rate of suicide in Singapore. She has been working non-stop to counsel those who have been affected.
This has prompted us to host a talk on the topic, which in some circles is considered a taboo subject here. Yet, suicide rates in SG reached an astonishing eight-year high in 2020, as the effects of the pandemic kicked in. There were 452 suicides last year, and the rate continues to climb alarmingly.
In this talk, you’ll get the opportunity to ask Dr Kang what to do if you encounter a loved one or a friend harming themselves or feeling depressed. She will also inform us how to look for signs of self harm and the patterns of depression, and how to speak to our friends and family about suicide.
