Five-footway Festival at Chinatown
23 March @ 1:00 pm - 24 March @ 9:00 pm
Celebrate the rich heritage of the Chinatown Street Market at the inaugural Five-footway Festival this March. Harking back to the precinct’s beginnings and recreating the hawking scenes of yesteryears, the event is organised by the Chinatown Business Association and will be held at Pagoda, Sago, Smith, Trengganu Streets. It marks the official launch of the refurbished Chinatown Street Market and takes visitors on a walk down memory lane. Enjoy traditional games and cultural activities, sample street food and browse an assortment of old school merchandise.
Indulge in popular local street food such as satay, ice-cold chendol, roasted chestnuts and rickshaw noodles, or take part in cultural activities like Chinese opera and calligraphy writing. Those in need of a hair trim can even visit the streetside barber. If you’re looking for souvenirs or collectibles such as waxed paper umbrellas and straw fans, these will be on sale. Foodie trails and guided tours will also be available.
