The 2024 match is the first time two contestants from Asia are competing for the title and prize fund of US$2.5 million.
Current World Champion Ding Liren from China will face off against 18-year-old prodigy Gukesh D from India, the youngest challenger in the history of the title.
Taking place at Resorts World Sentosa, this high-stakes match organised by the Singapore Chess Federation consists of 14 games. The player to score 7.5 or more points wins the match and no further games are played. If there’s a tie after 14 games, the champion will be decided by tiebreak.
