Anxiety and Panic Attacks – an open discussion with Dr Neil Forrest
25 March, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Anxiety can be present from childhood or may develop in adulthood. For those who have never experienced anxiety before, the realisation that this mental disorder is affecting one’s life can be confronting.
Feelings of anxiety and panic that interfere with daily activities, are difficult to control, and are out of proportion to the actual danger can be frightening. Dr Neil Forrest, family physician at Osler Health International, has supported many people (adults and kids) through their anxiety challenges.
In this open discussion Dr Forrest will cover the following topics:
-
What is ‘anxiety’? How can I know if it’s an ‘anxiety disorder’?
-
Are certain genders, ages or personality types more likely to develop anxiety?
-
What types of treatment are there for anxiety?
-
Are anxiety and panic attacks always linked?
-
What causes a panic attack? What can I do to stop being triggered?
-
What should I look out for in my tween/teen?
-
When should I seek support?
