Age of Revelation
16 August - 2 November
The Age of Revelation is an introspective film that leads audiences to reflect on their relationship with nature and technology in the 21st century. The work details the distancing between human and nature, human and God(s). It also highlights corrupt powers and external forces that inform people, their actions, and the environment that surrounds them. Only in love and light will peace be realised, even without order.
The film utilises music and dance to emote the feelings of the main character and her interaction with others. The cast comprises local performers and dance artists as the cast. The original score is composed by SAtheCollective with choreography by performance artist Effendy Ibrahim. Effendy Ibrahim has an extensive background in the contemporary art scene and has taught at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Laselle, and curated programmes for international music and dance festivals.
This new local sound-film production is commissioned by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre as part of Cultural Extravaganza 2021, bringing together SAtheCollective, and award-winning filmmaker Liao Jie Kai and producer Jeremy Chua, whose recent film ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ received a standing ovation at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film was produced by Pōtocol, a production company that has produced famous audiovisual works such as The Wandering by Yeo Siew Hua and Russell Morton, for SIFA v2.020.
