#1 Sample organic vino at Bacco’s Boutique Italian Wine Fair
Prone to a next-day hangover after a couple glasses of red or white? Try switching to organic wine! Held by boutique online vino retailer Bacco, this upcoming event lets you sample rare grapes, discover unique labels and enjoy the benefits of consuming organic wine. You’ll get to taste a wide range of awarded wine from all over the Italian peninsula, and buy bottles, wine glasses and fridges at exclusive sale prices. Don’t forget to enter the lucky draw, where you’ll stand a chance to win a bottle of bubbles.
When: 20 May, 2pm to 6pm
Cost: $30 per person
#2 Imbibe fine bourbon at the American Whiskey Weekend
A heads up to all whiskey fans: get ready for Asia’s first-ever American Whiskey Weekend, this Saturday and Sunday at The Great Escape (6001 Beach Road, #05-00). Expect to indulge in fine bourbon and rye, alongside craft cocktails ($10 each) by award-winning bars 28 HongKong Street, Manhattan Bar, Employees Only and Skinny’s Lounge. If you’re feeling peckish, pair your tipple with hearty American eats like burgers from Travis Masiero of Blue Label Burgers and barbecue from Dave Pynt of Meatsmith. Keen to learn more about your favourite labels? Don’t miss the master classes led by a panel of master distillers, brand ambassadors and industry experts.
When: 20 and 21 May, 3pm until late
Cost: $20 per entry with complimentary whiskey tasting
#3 Try craft beers at The Real Firkin’ Deal by Jack is not Dull
There’s nothing a good pint can’t fix, and that’s why we’re pretty stoked for this upcoming pop-up by nomadic craft beer bar Jack is not Dull. A collaboration with Brewlander & Co., Singapore’s first ever gypsy brewery (a brewery that uses the space and equipment of other breweries), this event features cask-conditioned brews served through a beer engine (or hand-pump) – the traditional English way of serving ales. In other words, you’ll get to try a delicious range of craft beers sans feeling too bloated. Admission is free, but you should definitely grab a pint (from $15) or half ($10), at least.
When: 21 May, 2pm to 12am (launch party), and every other day from 22 May until 27 May, 6pm to 12am
Psst… Snag a deal with the Brewlander Fanboy pack (limited stock), which entitles you to one pint, a limited-edition pint glass and $2 off subsequent pint purchases for the whole week.
#4 Indulge in fancy cocktails at the Negroni Week
When a cocktail craving hits hard, a simple negroni often does the trick. Led by Campari, this annual initiative – which returns for the third year – combines creative tipples with giving back. Over the course of the week, each participating bar will donate at least $1 from each Negroni cocktail or Negroni-related products it sells to the charity of its choice. Expect unique creations like the Rosemary Negroni Cooler ($25) by senior bartender Rhyse Borland of Sugarhall, a fizzy and refreshing drink that pays homage to his late grandmother; and Negroberry ($25), a strawberry-infused concoction by chief bartender Anthony Zhong of Shin Gi Tai bar in Haji Lane.
When: 5 to 11 June
