Got insurance, but no dental coverage?

15th March 2022 by Amy Greenburg 3 Min Read

Whether you’ve got an existing health insurance policy without dental benefits, or no existing plan but want to take care of your dental needs, read this! Pacific Prime Singapore shares the benefits of Primecare, a new insurance plan designed specifically for expats in Singapore who want dental benefits, plus the protection of personal accident insurance in the event of a mishap.

Need dental benefits or personal accident coverage?

Whether you’re living and working in Singapore or planning to move here soon, it’s important to cover your healthcare needs. Securing a health insurance policy means you’re not only protected, but it also offers some peace of mind for your family here and abroad.

However, chances are your existing insurance policy doesn’t include dental insurance in Singapore, or even personal accident insurance coverage. In fact, many policies don’t; particularly employer-provided or other group insurance plans.

For this reason, Pacific Prime Singapore has introduced PrimeCare, an exclusive plan designed for expats who need coverage in certain areas where their existing plans are lacking.

PrimeCare benefits – dental insurance and more for expats in Singapore

PrimeCare is a hybrid type of insurance policy that combines dental insurance with personal accident coverage to protect you in the event of unexpected mishaps. So, it’s a particularly useful option for expats who have a health insurance plan without dental benefits, or expats who don’t have existing plans but would like to take care of their dental health.

Here are five key features you can expect from PrimeCare:

#1 Dental benefits

Need dental work or a good cleaning? PrimeCare offers policyholders access to emergency dental benefits, minor restorative dental benefits like fillings and dental radiology services, including panoramic x-rays. The plan also offers reimbursement for preventative dental benefits, including oral examinations, teeth cleaning and fluoride application. These options are capped at S$1,500.

#2 Access to a wide range of dental clinics

Additionally, the new insurance plan offers access to a wide range of dental clinics. In fact, under PrimeCare, policyholders are able to receive dental treatment in over 150 clinics through Inova Care in Singapore.

#3 Stable dental renewal premiums

If you’re concerned that claims will bump up your premiums year after year, don’t worry. With PrimeCare, policyholders can rest easy knowing that premiums will remain stable upon renewal each year. What’s more, the policy is renewable up to age 65 with the plan’s age-inclusive renewable policy.

#4 Worldwide personal accident insurance coverage

While we hope it never happens, it’s worth seeking coverage for accidental death or accidental personal disablement and injury wherever you are in the world. With PrimeCare, you’ll receive worldwide coverage for accidental death and disablement, which provides up to S$300,000. Additionally, accidental medical expenses are reimbursed, and capped at S$3,000 per occurrence.

#5 Daily hospital income after a personal accident

If you’re hospitalised due to an accident, PrimeCare will reimburse you a daily income of S$200 for up to 365 days. They’ll also reimburse you S$100 for any diseases covered on the policy, for up to 30 days.

Additional protection

If you’re after even more comprehensive protection during your time here in Singapore, Pacific Prime also offers standalone Critical Illness and Hospital Income plans. Both are designed to supplement your insurance protection in Singapore and offer complete peace of mind. Here’s a look at some of the different types:

Elite Critical Illness Guard (Enhanced)

This plan covers 37 different critical illnesses. There are three different tiers (Deluxe, Supreme and Premier) of cash plans for:

  • critical illness diagnosis lump sum benefit; and
  • payouts for a second medical opinion.

By applying for this plan, you can access all these and more at reasonable market rates. This plan can be secured with or without buying the PrimeCare plan.

Elite Hospital Income Guard

There are three plans (Plan 1, Plan 2 and Plan 3) available to choose from, all offering financial security should hospitalisation occur due to illness or while overseas. Expats can secure a hospital income plan with benefits that include:

  • daily hospital income;
  • daily intensive care unit (ICU) hospital income;
  • overseas daily hospital income; and
  • post hospitalisation income

Eligibility and requirements

Do note that only Singapore residents are eligible for cover under PrimeCare, Elite Critical Illness Guard (Enhanced) and Elite Hospital Income Guard. Singapore residents include Singapore citizens, Singapore permanent residents, or a holder of a valid work permit, employment pass, dependant’s pass, long-term visit pass, S pass, or student pass issued by the authorities of Singapore. Expats with a work permit or who are Singapore permanent residents can apply for these plans.
