Customised tables, sofas and other great furniture

25th June 2022 by Amy Brook-Partridge 6 Min Read

Sometimes an off-the-shelf piece of furniture just won’t work for your home. Don’t settle for something that isn’t right; get it custom-made instead. It could be a regular item made to fit with your room and existing décor, or something unique. There’s no need to keep wondering where to buy customised furniture in Singapore, as these experienced furniture stores can make fabulous bespoke furniture. This includes customised tables to customised sofas or any other furniture your heart desires. All crafted to suit your size, style, material, shape and colour needs.

Woody Antique House

Not only is this store a must-see at Dempsey, the lovely team at Woody Antique House can make customised furniture from a variety of different timbers such as elm and teak. All you need to do is bring a drawing or picture of what you would like (like that perfect customised table); or you can even choose to alter an existing piece from their showroom.

Over the past 22 years, the store has had a number of unusual requests: a solid teak plaque for the Singapore Army, for example; a pair of sword stands for a private collector; cabinets to conceal a washing machine and a safe; and matching cabinets for dolls!

One happy customer ordered two customised daybeds with a unique lattice design and later, a customised half-moon table for their lobby, a made-to-order shoe cupboard and a customised sofa. Looking for that familiar piece of furniture but can’t find it anymore? You can call on Woody Antique House to customise a similar piece. Head to this Dempsey Hill mecca to customise that dream piece of furniture you’ve been thinking of!

Arete Culture

The in-house line of customised furniture by Arete Culture Outdoors & Bespoke is made or finished in Singapore by their dedicated carpenters. Frustrated by traditional lead times of 6-8 weeks, they have put together a collection of furniture pieces aimed at delivering quality pieces within just 4 weeks of order confirmation.

Beautiful customised furniture

Materials and finish can range from solid teak, oak and walnut wood to powder-coated stainless steel, glass, tile, and marble. All pieces can be made-to-order to your colour and size choices.

Using customised furniture helps you make full use of your space. Turn an irregularly shaped corner into a fully functional storage area with a customised unit, customised tables can mean being able to accommodate an extended family, or maximise your storage with standalone pieces that you can move with.

Desace Studio

With a wealth of experience as a furniture retailer and wholesale supplier to hotels and commercial clients, Desace also offers furniture customisation directly to customers. Using skilled craftsmen based in their own factory, Desace can produce customised tables, sofas and other furniture  in any design or size. They also have a wide range of materials to choose from. This includes everything from stain resistant fabric, to full cow hide leather sofas.

Customers can choose different foam density according to their personal comfort preferences, and are able to create beautifully unique pieces, including curved sofas such as this one pictured. Lead time is estimated at between eight and ten weeks.

WTP – The Furniture Company

WTP can make a range of items to suit your needs, including customised furniture with upholstery, such as customised sofas, armchairs, upholstered dining chairs and beds. Choose from an extensive fabric library that includes stain-resistant fabrics as well as embroidered fabrics in a range of colours. Fun curtains and padded walls are also proving popular with clients.

customised tables

They’re also the exclusive carrier of Lotus Homes fabrics in Singapore. Tie these in to your choice of curtains, cushions and other soft furnishings to complete the look. WTP can also work with metal and marble or marble and wood combinations for pieces like coffee tables and side tables. Upholstered bedframes have also become a frequently requested item of the store.

The customisation process can take anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours; it just depends on the scope of the design, as well as your decision-making prowess. The most unusual piece of customised furniture the WTP team has been asked to create? A cat house that doubled as a shoe cabinet! So, they really can make customised furniture for anyone.

Smoke Signature

Smoke Signature produces handcrafted custom live-edge furniture right here in Singapore. As a Singapore based design and custom crafted furniture, the brand invests time and effort into the creation of each and every piece. This is in stark contrast to those mass-produced pieces using heavy machinery and equipment.

customised tables

Every design is sparked by a moment of inspiration and handcrafted in limited number of pieces. The designs come to life through their highly skilled artisan team with years of woodworking and furniture design experience.

The Singapore design team uses the premium sustainable wood component of reclaimed wood species. Their handcrafted custom tables are unique, with no two pieces are exactly the same. The grain pattern of each wood type ensures that even seemingly identical stools are distinctly unique. Over the years Smoke Signature has crafted a wide and diverse array of bespoke pieces, ranging from furniture to inspiring custom wall art and accessories.

Gallery 278 by Esco Leasing

Gallery 278 specialises in quality, customised furniture crafted by hand, and with wood sourced from renewable origins. That means the forests and plantations are farmed with strict ecological management. The company supports the Tree4Tree programme that grows another tree for each one that’s cut down. This means future generations will have access to the same resources that we do.

customised sofas

Recently, the European Union Ambassador came to Gallery 278 to request a dining table that could seat 10 people but be extendable to seat 20! The team designed it here in Singapore and assembled it on site at the Ambassador’s Residence.

They’ve also designed and built the Argentinian Ambassador’s customised table in two modular pieces that can be assembled for entertaining a bigger group as well as separately for smaller group gatherings.

Gallery 278 is also well-known for lifestyle customised sofas with generous depth of seating and feather-filled back cushions. You can choose your preferred back height, the number of back cushions, seat density, seating depth, the width of the armrest and different leg heights and materials to your specifications. The store’s re-upholstery services can provide new covers for your customised sofa or custom-sized pillow shams. Plus, you can even use your own material such as a psychedelic coloured silk saree to make accent pillow covers. How cool is that!
