Are you prone to dry elbows or cracked heels? Dry, damaged, chaffed or irritated skin can be annoying and unattractive. Air-conditioning often makes it worse, too! Unfortunately, while there are countless creams and treatments on the market, many are either too costly or they end up being harsh on the skin.
Here we discover an affordable solution, Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm, a multi-purpose beauty balm spoken highly of by the likes of Drew Barrymore and Nicole Kidman. Psst… Search “aquaphor” and “celebrities” on Google to see what the hype is all about!
What it is
Aquaphor boasts a gentle, non-comedogenic formula made of just seven ingredients. (For the scientifically-minded among you, we’ll list them here: paraffinum liquidum, cera microcristallina, ceresin, lanolin alcohol, panthenol, glycerin and bisabolo.) It’s a multi-purpose, water-free balm that’s been clinically proven to moisturise and repair dry, cracked and damaged skin. And since it’s formulated with no antibacterial agents, preservatives and fragrances, Aquaphor is suitable for every member of the family, including those with sensitive skin. According to a study done by Beiersdorf AG from March 2017 to February 2018, the balm was recommended by American dermatologists as the top brand in USA for dry, cracked skin.
How it works
Aquaphor protects the skin by creating a breathable, protective barrier. This allows oxygen and water vapour to circulate to and from the skin. With this protective barrier in place, skin can “breathe” and strengthen its natural barrier function, thus helping healed wounds and damaged skin to regenerate effectively.
Alternative uses
The balm also addresses a variety of skin problems and irritations. Apart from moisturising dry skin on the elbows, knees, hands and feet, it can help to soothe and repair superficial burns and healed wounds. If you’re prone to skin chafing from sports (long-distance runners can be the biggest sufferers here), Aquaphor can work as a good lubricant to prevent friction. Mothers may also apply it on their babies’ dry cheeks and nappy area to soothe and hydrate sensitive skin.
Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm retails for $16.90 (110ml) and $7.90 (for two 7ml jars) at Watsons stores.
