There’s a new name on Singapore’s art scene, Chope4me, and it’s drawing both seasoned collectors as well as those who’ve never before hung a picture hook.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Sharif Bangi and Khamaliah Salleh in 2014, Chope4me’s East Coast showroom is filled with original paintings and prints from artists across Indonesia, Australia and Malaysia that have been handpicked by the pair on their regular shopping trips.
You’ll find Balinese-style oil and acrylic paintings, Chairul Sabarudin’s unique artwork in coloured pencils from ZOLA ZOLU art gallery in Indonesia, as well as original masterpieces by two Aussie artists Nigel Gillings and Allan Ashley.
Nigel Gillings’ work explores the nature of love and relationships, while printmaker Allan Ashley’s contemporary style draws on the local environment for inspiration.
The playroom walls haven’t been left out either, with a sweet selection of paintings by the Ubud Community Artists with names like Ms Cow and Mr Doggy starting from $65.
So, make an appointment to view the full collection by calling Khamaliah on 65 9339 4380 or 65 6748 1009 and heading along to Chope4me’s showroom at 81 Ubi Avenue 4, #10-04 UB.One, 408830. Otherwise, shop online at Chope4me.com/artsy and be sure to follow them on Facebook for art alerts aplenty!
* Fun fact! If you were wondering what ‘chope’ means, it’s Singaporean slang for reserving a table at a hawker centre with a packet of tissues or similar while you’re up at the stall ordering your grub. Use it or lose it!
