How to get this festive make up look!

7th December 2020 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/christmas-make-up-in-singapore-with-amplio/

Christmas is coming, and that means many of us will be looking to rock some holiday colours on our lips and eyes. Worried about overdoing the sparkle? NMITA DOAK, founder of cruelty- and paraben-free makeup brand Amplio Beauty, lets us in on her tips and tricks to nailing the perfect makeup look.

Run us through the look you’ll be wearing this season.

I always love adding a pop of colour to any holiday look. This year, Amplio Beauty’s holiday trend features luminescent eye shades from our Jewels of India palette. These uniquely sheer shades have a pearly formula that wash across the lids with a beautiful, dimensional shimmer. This is complemented with a sleek winged eyeliner created with our creamy Amplio All Black Kajal.

I do love a daytime festive look as well. I do this by creating a brown and luminescent gold smoky eye using matt natural browns and a pop of Champagne from the Natural New Zealand palette, enhanced with Cabernet Merlot Lip Stylo for my lips.

How can I ensure my makeup looks fun and festive, yet still wearable?

Keep it simple with one element of pop. Is it your eyes or your lips? My rule is to pick one. We love green, red and gold always. I’m a bit of a magpie and get attracted to sparkles but I don’t want to look too overdone. I tend to gravitate towards natural makeup looks, so this year I’m only going to add a subtle layer of gold glitter to my winged eyeliner and top it off with bold lips. In summary, I’ll be using my Natural New Zealand or Jewels of India palette combined with Rocket Red and Ruby Berry Lipstays, with Cabernet Merlot Lip Stylo

I’m going straight to a party after work; how can I jazz up my makeup look in 10 minutes?

I do this all the time as no one wants to take off all their makeup and start over. The quickest thing to do is to put on the Rocket Red Lipstay and Lip Stylo, and you’ll achieve the perfect holiday look in one minute. However, if you have three more minutes to spare, make your eyes pop. Take an angle definer brush, wet it in water or a setting spray, and then run the brush through Panna (a metallic emerald green shade) in the Jewels of India palette to create a bold eyeliner. The best part of doing this is you won’t get any fallout from the powder so there’s no need for touching up. I would also do this with other colours such as Toomalain (a metallic umber shade) or Aakaashaganga (a metallic deep-blue night-sky shade), both from the same palette.

Next, I use the Amplio All Black Kajal. I like to sharpen the pencil to a fine point, create a sharp winged eyeliner, and line the water line, which instantly gives your eyes an incredible pop.

The rule of thumb for any daytime makeup is to go with a natural shade on your lips such as Dusty Rose or Naughty Nude if you have a super bold eye look. If I have simple luminescent eye makeup on, I love bold lip colours like Rocket Red and Ruby Berry, which are perfect for the holidays.

What are some gift ideas you can recommend from your site?

The Grab & Go kit is the perfect gift for yourself or your friends, as it has everything you need in a box! On our website, you can choose any palette, Lipstay or Lipluscious Gloss, and a Lip Stylo or Kajal to create your personal makeup combination that you can pop into your handbag. Whether at home, at work or between meetings, every women has her own personal makeup ritual – the luxurious and beautiful Grab & Go kit aims to satisfy those rituals.

I’d also recommend that you check out our Amplio Experience kits. Like the Grab & Go, we have multiple options that are great value for money. For example, we offer a special service called “Surprise Me”, which, if you’re unsure on what to pick, allows you to click a button and leave it to me to choose. An even better option is for you to send me a recent picture of the person you’re buying for and I will match their skin with my recommended eye and lip colours at no extra charge. This has been a great gifting option, especially with men who are unsure on what to buy. Gift wrapping and personalised messages can be included, too.

Through December, shop online and receive a free All Black Kajal eyeliner with any purchase! Use the code “EXPATLIVINGXMAS” before checkout to enjoy the offer.
