Christmas (and the end of the year) is just around the corner. Why not get a head start on your Christmas dining and New Year’s plans by booking a table for a festive meal at the Shangri-La Hotel this December? Or, take advantage of the takeaway goodies on offer, if you plan to eat at home. Here’s the lowdown!
Hotel dining options
Treat family and friends to an indulgent buffet at The Line. The popular restaurant’s 16 theatre kitchens will be serving up plenty of delicious fare including classic roasted turkey, slow-roasted prime rib and a delicious lobster coconut curry. There’ll also be a live barbecue station offering hearty meat and seafood dishes including rosemary-scented Iberico pork chops and charred sea bass fillets. Big and little diners alike will enjoy the selection of desserts, including the Christmas macaron tower.
At the Lobby Lounge, meanwhile, you can dig into a delicious selection of Eurasian and local delights. The highlights include a chicken curry debal (“devil curry”) and a prawn bostador, along with sweet treats such as sugee cake. There’ll be a serving of teh or kopi tarik to accompany the food, too.
If Cantonese is your thing, Shang Palace’s executive chef Mok Kit Keung will be whipping up a special festive seven-course menu, available from 21 to 25 December. Treat yourself to dishes such as baked cod fillet with lobster bisque and wok-fried diced beef wagyu.
Looking for a Christmas Eve dinner booking? Dig into a special menu of authentic Italian dishes created by Daniele Devillanova, chef de cuisine at The Waterfall Ristorante Italiano. His popular creations include prawn bisque cavatelli and pistachio and mustard crusted lamb chop.
Who wouldn’t love a high-tea sesh at The Rose Veranda? Besides Christmas mainstays such as roast turkey, there’s a wide selection of desserts for the sweet-toothed – everything from log cakes to warm Christmas pudding and Christmas stollen.
NAMI will also be rolling out a festive menu, with a seven-course ocean-inspired menu this December. You can also look forward to a specially curated four- or five-course set menu by chef Heidi Flanagan at Origin Grill – highlights include acquerello aged risotto and pan-seared halibut.
After your dinner or lunch, adjourn to Origin Bar to try the exclusive Christmas drinks – Christmas Colada is a refreshing tropical tipple; Be Cup is an earthy, fizzy cocktail; and Red and Berry is a berry-centric treat. There’ll also be exclusive eggnog bottles and Christmas gin.
Festive treats to go
Shophouse is all set for Christmas with a great selection of treats available to take home. Take your pick of French yule log cakes, minced meat pies and Christmas pudding. Or, if you’re looking for a gift, the premium hampers are a good place to start (from $108).
Plan ahead for New Year’s
There’s a sumptuous buffet dinner spread at The Rose Veranda on New Year’s Eve, including a selection of tapas and cheeses, along with the likes of caviar on waffles, beef wellington and plenty of sweet treats.
NAMI, Origin Grill, The Waterfall Ristorante Italiano and Shang Palace will also be offering exclusive New Year’s menus from 29 December to 1 January, including a six-course menu of seasonal favourites and traditional toshikoshi soba at NAMI.
Finally, why not welcome 2019 at the Masquerade Party on 31 December (9.30pm to 2am)? Held in The Lobby Lounge, it’ll be a night of dancing, partying and entertainment. Plus, you’ll stand a chance to win a one-night stay in Shangri-La’s Grand Suite. There are special beverage table packages to choose from; enjoy 10% off if you reserve a spot before 14 December.
