Celebrate Melbourne Cup Day in Singapore: Dress up and party from afar at these great events on the island


It doesn’t matter if you’re an Aussie or not, Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 5 November is a celebration open to all. And it doesn’t matter too much you don’t happen to see an actual horse on the day – it’s more about the dressing up and getting stuck into the party. We recommend you book ahead for these popular events in Singapore.

An Institution
Aussie Boomarang Bistro and Bar knows how to through a sporting celebration. Start the day early at 9.30am with brunch and two and a half hours of free-flowing Chandon Sparkling. Live entertainment will entertain punters ahead of the televised race on the big screens. Dress to impress in frock and hat for Fashions on the Field. Giveaways and sweepstakes.

At the Track
ANZA’s event is an institution amongst the Aussies in town. Granted there won’t be any live gee-gee action at this racing track, but head out early for this one as Kranji is at the top of the island and you won’t want to miss the light bite breakfast served at 10.30am. Onsite bookmakers will help you place your bets on Victorian races as well as sweeps and a live telecast of the race. A two-course lunch accompanied by free-flowing sparkling, red and white wine and beer will be followed by Fashions on the Field and prizes.

Frock Up
Shopping at Tiffany’s boutique owner, Tiffany Maughan and pal, Melissa Connell have upscaled their annual lunch to the Intercontinental Hotel. The popular event kicks off at 10am, with a three-course lunch and free-flow bubbles, wine and beer until 3pm. There’s be Fashions of the Field, an onsite bookmaker a the live telecast on four screens. All monies raised will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities (Singapore). Hats essential.
